Battle Against Communalism Can't be Half-hearted, Says Upadhyaya

Abolish Punjab Regional Committees

Addressing Press Conference Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, BJS General Secretary, said that if communalism was to be fought, there should be no half-heartedness about it. ‘Akali separatism cannot be both appeased and curbed at the same time’, he said.

It was amazing, he added, that while the P.M. should firmly reject the communal demand for an Akali Suba, he should talk in the same breath about enhancing the powers of regional committees, based on the communal demarcation of the State.

Sri Upadhyaya said–‘Time has come when the past mistakes should be rectified, these Regional Committees abolished, the Sachar and Pepsn formulas scrapped, and the whole of Punjab administered on a uniform basis like any other State.’

Chinese Aggression should be met by Military action, says Upadhyaya

Jaipur, 21 September. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, General Secretary of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, announced here today that the Jana Sangh would start its election campaign from 19 October, Vijayadashmi Day.

Sri Upadhyaya, who was addressing a news conference, said that the Jana Sangh was setting up candidates in all the States except in Orissa. About 200 names of party candidates had already been finalised, he said, while the rest were likely to be announced by the 15th of November.

Referring to the Chinese problem, the BJS leader said that the stage of peaceful negotiations with China had ended and that the Government or India should be psychologically prepared to get Chinese aggression vacated by force. The Jana Sangh, he said, was of the considered view that military action should be taken to throw out the Chinese aggressor from Indian soil. Such an action was also imperative to free Goa, he added.
